World Vision International has taken the risks inherent in microfinance lending seriously and has created a board of seasoned bankers, economists, and business people with hundreds of combined years experience in managing risk. Three sub-committees (Executive, Risk & Audit, and Governance & Nominating) dig into the details and report to the board. The board has regional members who are responsible for representing the voice of the borrowers. In addition, the board holds meetings in local microfinance institutions to stay close to borrowers and gain a greater understanding of the local needs.
